Something a whole lot of people in the replies need to hear: your abusive parent crying after they hurt you does not make it less abusive. 99% of the times my mother abused me (physically and verbally) ended in her crying and forcing me to accept an apology (she’d get angry again if I didn’t stop crying fast enough because she’s apologised, what was I so upset about?) ½
