I feel like we are often taught that talking and being open about our feelings, and being completely exposed to people makes us weak, makes us less. This is absolutely not true, and in relationships, no matter what kind, communication is crucial.

If you aren’t sure how to make your partner happy - talk to them! Ask them.

If you don’t know what your partner likes - talk to them! Ask them about their needs.

If you have doubts about limits in your play - talk to them! Make sure your communication is clear.

The greatest value of a relationship is the fact that you’re trusting this person to be closer to you than most other people. The very basic , foundation value of that should be the ability to be frank with each other and to sit down and have a needed discussion.

It’s okay to be awkward. It’s okay to be embarrassed. I’m still not very good at this myself, I have to admit. But it’s a thing that we should all try to work on, one way or another.
