It’s so wild to me how prevalent homophobia is in fantasy worlds. Like, it’s so weird to play The Witcher 3 and have a quest where you find out a character’s back story was that he was almost killed because he had same sex relations with a royal. Like, you build this entire, complex fantasy world, but you can’t imagine a world where sexuality is open and not somehow at the mercy of Judeo Christian values. You also can imagine a full race of made up beings and use them to express concepts of racism but can’t add black characters to your story because “it’s not realistic.” Fantasy authors are the absolute worst.
