I saw a post once that was saying that they didn’t like the direction SU was going because it was always a show that presented issues in terms of black and white and now it was making things more grey and I was like…
Bro SU has ALWAYS been about grey areas. Every single problem the show delved into was showing that things aren’t always good vs. evil and how everyone has the capacity for both inside them. No one is doing things simply becuase they are evil and every character is nuanced and deep and even the most ‘evil’ ones still are shown as people worthy of being saved and every ‘good’ character has done at least one morally questionable thing. The whole show is about Steven learning that every issue is more than black and white and sure there is a clearly some concrete rights and wrongs but even the character who is presented at first as the pinnacle of goodness actually killed and hurt people just as much as any of the ‘villains’. Like if you can’t see that you missed like…the whole goddamn point of the show?
