adobsonartworks:

WAAAAYYYY back in 2015, a Spanish animation studio located in Madrid produced a short teaser for a potential 2-D animated film about a postman trying to inspire people to write letters and ending up creating Santa Claus.

The short was revolutionary in 2 ways. First, it was 2-D animated at a time when nobody is doing 2-D animation anymore. Second, it used a new computer technique to bring depth and texture to 2-D animated characters in a way that hasn’t been seen before.

But after that teaser… no studio picked them up. They sent it around to a bunch of studios, but apparently nobody thought it would be successful despite it’s gorgeous presentation. The stigma of 2-D in the industry i suppose… Their only consolation was that the teaser garnered modest attention on YouTube.

BUT THEN…. Netflix came along and said “yeah, sure! we’ll pick you up!” And so here we go! We’re FINALLY getting KLAUS!

Please please PLEASE let this be good, and PLEASE let this spark a renewed interest in 2-D animation again…
