They are not your friends. Hollywood is a vacuum, famous people are a small, isolated group, they cannot socialise comfortably with normal people, with you. They are very likely MUCH richer than you, and the longer they spend in that tax bracket, the more distanced they become from the working class, the less they relate to you or even have any incentive to try.

No, it is not a surprise that Jon Mulaney supported a bigot. He has more in common with that bigot than he does with any trans person begging for rent money on the internet, and that has been the case for almost a decade. Celebrities stop socialising outside very small, wealthy, entitled groups. They understand each other, reinforce an environment where it’s ok to indulge in being stupidly rich and arrogant. They give each other work. This is the unavoidable class embedding of every celebrity, including the ones you think are charming and relatable.
