No ones saying you have to feel bad but respect would be nice…

But that’s just me.

i’m supposed to respect the military? i don’t

Going into Memorial Day weekend in the US, I’m gonna take a second to elaborate on why I’m not offended by this opinion as a twenty year military wife.

The military-industrial complex is a broken system. It’s bloated, redundant, and over-powered. It is a machine run by corporate talking heads. As a whole, the military takes in meat, chews it up and spits it out. It does. Not. Care.

So, no, don’t feel bad for the military. Hell, don’t respect it either.

All I ask, is that you recognize that the vast majority of the people that sign on the dotted line, have no clue what they are actually getting into. So many of them are solely doing it so that they can attend college without going into massive amounts of debt. They are going into the military to support families with “free” healthcare and a guaranteed paycheck. And then there are the few that do it because they have been led to believe that it’s a great thing to serve one’s country. And every single one of these types of people will be chewed up, and spit out different from how they went in. If they’re lucky, it won’t change much for them. But more often than not they’ll come out bitter, or depressed, or like my husband classified 100% disabled with PTSD and very little usable help from the equally broken VA health system.

And get back around to Memorial Day, there are the most unfortunate few. Those that died for a country that doesn’t even know what we are fighting for other than more profit, more money, more power.

#as a current military wife who hated it before going in #i can honestly say i hate it even more now #and the hatred will continue to grow!
